Cement plaster is a mixture of suitable plaster, sand, Portland cement and water which is normally applied to masonry interiors and exteriors to achieve a smooth surface. Interior surfaces sometimes receive a final layer of gypsum plaster.
Damp Proofing Re-Plastering
The traditional approach to replastering after the installation of a new damp‐proof course is to use a specialist salt and moisture-resistant plaster such as Dryzone Damp-Resistant Plaster. This system has the advantage of being suitable for application onto uneven walls.
Dryzone Damp-Resistant Plaster benefits from higher water vapour permeability (breathability) compared with sand:cement renders.
Plastering is a process carried out by a plasterer. A plasterer is a tradesman who works with plaster, such as forming a layer of plaster on an interior wall or plaster decorative moldings on ceilings or walls. The process of creating plasterwork, called plastering, has been used in building construction for centuries.
