The water table is an underground boundary between the soil surface and the area where groundwater saturates spaces between sediments and cracks in rock. Water pressure and atmospheric pressure are equal at this boundary. Underneath the water table is the saturated zone, where water fills all spaces between sediments.
Water table and Basement Conversions
Many wet basement issues occur when the structure is located in a place with a high water table. High water increases hydrostatic pressure on the floor and walls of your basement, making it susceptible to leaks. You can still have a dry basement and a healthy foundation if you live in an area with a high water table!
